This is a profitable opportunity to purchase a long-standing garden design and maintenance business based in Kent. The business has an excellent reputation with a loyal and secure client base and an extremely high retention rate.

The business covers the Bromley/Chislehurst/Croydon and Purley areas and is engaged in the following services: garden maintenance – lawn mowing/cutting hedges and shrubs/jet washing/turfing /planting/ongoing maintenance and one-off clearance jobs. Fencing – all types of arris rail and panel fencing, both repairs and new installations and hard landscaping – patios /driveways/artificial grass/decking.

Currently, they have 63 live garden maintenance customers with weekly, fortnightly monthly and as-required visits. Their customers are mainly domestic with some flats that are serviced on a grounds maintenance basis.

New customers are periodically gained through a subscription to ‘Getagardener’ – this provides new leads for the business alongside its many recommendations. The company has a combination of invoiced and cash customers with payment terms based on monthly invoices with payment due upon receipt of invoice.

The business is run from the vendor’s home with all equipment kept in a nearby storage unit which can be transferred to a new owner if required.

The company has good relations with Jewsons and Arlsford Timber who are their main suppliers of materials.

The company currently has 2 self-employed operatives and over the years they have had up to 11 self-employed workers when required.

There is a good opportunity to gain new customers and to provide additional services to both existing and new customers. For example, the business could provide a scarification and lawn maintenance programme to existing and new customers which would be an additional income stream.

Additional business for January & February months could also include preparation of both vegetable and flower beds for customers. Another opportunity would be to provide a mulching service during the winter months and a driveway and patio de-icing service.

Three sections of the business can be developed - garden maintenance, hard & soft landscaping (including decking projects)and artificial grass projects. They have previously worked with two local garden designers on various projects and he would be happy to introduce these designers to any new owner so that a relationship can be built going forward.

The company has produced a 2024 budget with their accountants which can be shared.
